Dear Brothers:

The Third annual Polar Bear Plunge was a great success having raised over $57,000 to benefit local Catholic Schools Scholarship Funds.  Chairmen Jim Shaw, Jim Bonney and the Plunge Committee have done another fantastic job.   Also I would to thank the five other AOH divisions that participated and helped to make this day a success.  We look forward to next year.

Our 18th Annual Dance will be held February 7, 2009 at Lakeside Manor on Hwy 36 in Hazlet.
This year’s Honorees are Howard Gieler, Hibernian of the Year, and Pat Mangan Irishman of the Year.  Music by our own Kevin Guerin and the Round the House Band; tickets are $65 each and includes dinner and open bar all night.  Please show your support.  Our quest to purchase a stained glass window in the name of Vol. Patrick Torphy Div.2 for the new St. Mary Mother of God Church in New Monmouth continues.  To date we have raised $15,222.  We will be meeting with Fr. Mike to discuss his ideas.  Spread the word to friends and family - should you or someone you know like to make a donation in the name of the AOH, please send a check made out to: AOH Division 2 / Stained Glass Fund, PO BOX 2055, Red Bank NJ 07701

March 1st is the Belmar St. Patrick’s Day Parade.  Our division has been part of this great parade for over 18 years.  The bus will leave the K of C at 10:30 AM – the cost is $10 per person.  After the parade we will return to the hall for our St Patrick’s Day party. The party is open to AOH Members and their families with music by Philly’s best Irish band The Bogside Rouges, food and drinks will be supplied.  To be fully prepared and ensure a good time please RSVP for the party so food can be ordered – Jack at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

As you all know our Hunger Monument was destroyed by vandalism.  We are presently working on a new monument that would be placed on the hall property.  Fund raising events will be discussed in the upcoming months.  More detail’s at the next meeting.

Gerry Ward and I met with the General at the Sea Girt National Guard last month to work out the details for our 11th Annual Irish Festival@ the Jersey Shore. This year’s festival will on 9/19/09 so please save the date.  &nb sp;
