President’s Letter Summer 2008 PDF
Tuesday, 19 August 2008
ImageDear Brothers:

This past week our order held their 94th Biennial National Convention in New Orleans with over 900 delegates attending making it the largest convention to date. We elected four very fine men to lead us through the next two years; Seamus Boyle, President, Brendan Moore, Vice President, Judge Jim McKay, Treasurer, and Tom McNabb Secretary.   Father Pat Sullivan was appointed as our National Chaplin.  I have the honor of calling all these men friends and I know the move in the upcoming two years will be for the good of the order. Our division won the National Charity Award for the second time in 8 years.  This is something we should all be very proud of.

I would like to congratulate Brothers Howard Geiler GK and Brian Sloan DGK having been elected to lead the Bayshore K of C.  We know they will do a fine job.   I would to thank all the Hibernian brothers that have supported our effort to save the Bayshore Council with over 32 new Knights and 10 transfer s having come from our division membership.

Our quest to purchase a stained glass window in the name of Vol. Patrick Torphy Div.2 for the new Mary, Mother of God Church in New Monmouth is slowly growing.  To date we have raised $15,000.  The overall cost will be somewhere in the neighborhood of $20,000+.  As you can see, we need to kick up our efforts.  Any fund raising ideas are welcome as well as direct donations.  Should you or someone you know like to make a donation in the name of the AOH please send a check made out to: AOH Division 2 / Stained Glass Fund, PO BOX 2055, Red Bank NJ 07701.

Our 10th annual Irish Festival at the Jersey Shore is Sept.13th 2008 at the Sea Girt National Guard Base.  This years’ festival will be our largest to date. We have an exciting music line up and our Festival Chieftain will be State Sen. Sean Keane. Festival meetings will be a half hour before division meeting. Everyone is welcome

Please note that our division has moved from the American legion to the K of C 12 Hwy 36 and Palmer Ave Middletown.

In our motto

Jack Sullivan
