Presidents Letter December 2007 PDF
Monday, 10 December 2007
ImageDear Brother’s:

I would like to thank our Brother and Sister Hibernian’s that supported our Thanksgiving food drive to benefit Project Paul; Sister Kathleen was delighted! Our turkey donation was over 1000 pounds.  If for whatever reason you were not able to participate in the food drive, you can make a cash or food donation directly to Project Paul Monday – Friday.  Please keep in mind that they are serving more people than ever and every little bit helps.

With the Christmas season upon us we should look to the less fortunate people in our community.  Both Rob Hughes and Jerry Duffy have requested  we  help two families this holiday Season. One family has 4 children and a single mother.  The other has 2 grown handicap children and a crippled mother. The perfect  gift for these families would be a gift card from Stop and Shop; Shop Rite, Kohl’s or Sears. This way they can use the funds as needed. Please bring the card to our December  19th meeting.

Our quest to purchase a stained glass window in the name of Vol. Patrick Torphy Div.2 for the new St.Mary’s Church in New Monmouth is slowly growing.  To date we have raised $5,000.  The overall cost will be somewhere in the neighborhood of $15,000+.  As you can see, we need to kick up our efforts.  Any fund raising ideas are welcome as well as direct donations.  Should you or someone you know like to make a donation in the name of the AOH please send a check made out to: AOH Division 2 / Stained Glass Fund, PO BOX 2055, Red Bank NJ 07701

The 9th annual Bloody Sunday Tour has been cancelled to the strong euro and lack of interest.

The Polar Bear Plunge is back for its second year. The event will benefit The Bayshore’s Catholic Schools Scholarship Funds.  Jim Shaw again is off and running with a bigger bash than last year. Please show your support to our local Catholic Schools.  One way to support the cause without getting wet is to sponsor your Brother Hibernians.

As you all know our Hunger Monument was destroyed by vandalism.  We are presently working with the town of Keansburg and Brian Hanlon, the sculptor to design and build a new monument to be completed by March 2008.

Yours in Friendship, Unity and Christian Charity
