Dear Brother’s: The State NJAOH Convention will be taking place this week starting on Thursday, May 15th thru May 17th in Mt Holly with accommodations being arranged at the Best Western Burlington. Based on our membership numbers we are entitled to send 18 delegates and presently have only 5 Brothers registered to participate. The convention itself will be held at Burlington County College on Saturday from 9:00am – 5:00pm. Dinner Saturday night will be held at the Mt. Holly Prison, a historic landmark. Dinner entertainment will be provided by the Bogside Rouge’s. Anyone interested in attending please drop me an email as soon as possible. I would like to congratulate all the members of our Division and Stickball Tournament Chairman Jim Shaw for a fine job hosting the 3rd Annual Stickball event. Their effort raised $4,200 for St.Mary’s School. Also, St. Ann School raised funds to provide financial support to their students planning on attending a new Catholic School in September. As many of know our club house bar is open every Friday night from 7-12. Many changes have happen over the past 2 months. We have installed new dart boards, bar stools, French doors between the bar and small meeting room, and a new, larger ice machine. Much more is set to come in the next few months. I would like to extend a special thank you to the LAOH and their President Alberta Brogan for the generous donation that allowed us to purchase a new juke box for the hall. If you would like to donate a new Irish CD for the juke box please drop by the bar or bring it to our meeting on May 20th. CD’s must be new and in the original packaging. Due to the mechanics of the juke box burned CD’s cannot be read by the computer. In regard to the Famine Monument, I have had several meetings with Dennis O’Keefe and the monument company to determine our best options to replace the monument after the vandalism. The monument will once again be placed in Friendship Park in Keansburg. Depending on the engravings we hope to have everything done by November 2009. On May 29th Division 2 will host a fundraiser for Harbor House at the hall. Please come out support this worthy cause. Kevin Gibson will be selling tickets for the event at our meeting being held on May 20th. Yours in Freindship, Unity and Christian Charity Jack Sullivan |
